(Newswire.net — May 11, 2017) Orlando, FL — Rheumatoid arthritis affects millions of people nowadays. It is believed to be an autoimmune disorder, but there are many other factors thought to contribute to the development of this condition.

Researchers suggest increased antibody levels may be linked with the risk of rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is a painful and debilitating condition that may place sufferers in a reduced quality of life. There are many medications available to help sufferers, but a cure for the condition still hasn’t been found.

This antibody is called the rheumatoid factor, which can be found in the blood. According to the study published on bmj.com, men and women with high rheumatoid factor levels have up to a 26-fold greater long-term risk of developing the arthritic condition.

The findings of the study recommend the early referral for examination after one gets a positive rheumatoid factor test. This should be conducted even in the absence of joint pain and swelling and other typical arthritic symptoms.

This chronic inflammatory joint disorder is believed to affect about 1% of the global population. It was also found that women are three times more susceptible to the condition than men.

While rheumatoid arthritis cannot be diagnosed by any blood test, a positive rheumatoid factor test can indicate the presence of the condition.

A team of Denmark-based researchers conducted a study to see whether high rheumatoid factor levels are linked with long-term rheumatoid arthritis development.

It was found that a doubling level of rheumatoid factor was linked with a 3.3-fold increased rheumatoid arthritis risk. It was also revealed that the highest rheumatoid factor level was associated with a 26-fold increased susceptibility for the condition.

The researchers also found that the highest risk of rheumatoid arthritis, which lasted for 10 years, by 32% was noticed in women who were 50 to 69 years old. It is also important to note that the women smoked and had 100 IU/ml rheumatoid factor level or more.

According to researchers, while the study does not provide that the rheumatoid factor plays a role in the development of rheumatoid arthritis, it may be used to revise certain arthritic guidelines. Rheumatologists can use these guidelines for early referral, even if there is an absence of arthritic joint symptoms.

Rheumatoid arthritis continues to make many people from around the world turn to the use of pain medications to ease their symptoms. The good news is that many sufferers are seeking natural alternatives and methods to help improve their overall condition.

One of the most popular natural alternatives for arthritis is curcumin, which contains a variety of unique properties. Some of its ingredients are believed to offer antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibiotic, antiviral, and anti-carcinogenic properties.
