(Newswire.net — February 10, 2016) — It’s being announced that sometime in February, Ford will begin taking orders for their new GT. This long awaited car will hit stores later this year, but customers, particularly those with a long history of ordering Ford vehicles, will have the opportunity to buy them first.
Ford’s Rigorous Application Process
Because it’s a Ford luxury vehicle and the company is making it an exclusive purchase, Ford GT consumers will experience a rigorous application process. The ultimate goal will be to get these limited quantity super vehicles to those who are most passionate about them.
“There’s a loyal following to the car,” says Raj Nair, product chief for Ford. “We want to prioritize people who are going to care about the car, keep the car, and drive the car.”
One thing the company will evaluate is how many Ford vehicles an applicant has purchased in the past. The more vehicles owned, the higher the applicant will be placed on the list. If you’re really desperate to get your hands on the new Ford GT, then adding a few more Ford vehicles to your collection isn’t a bad idea.
Another important item Ford will examine is how often you’ll actually drive the GT. Ultimately, Ford wants the car to be seen and loved, and if it’s just going to sit in your garage or warehouse untouched, they don’t want your money. “There’s a lot of faithful Ford owners and they deserve these cars,” says Brian Stormer, Ft. Lauderdale resident and longtime Ford Enthusiast. “I don’t care if some guy has $20 million; I’d rather it go to a guy who’s going to enjoy it.”
Special emphasis will also be placed on online presence, particularly social media. According to Nair, Ford plans to use your social media participation to “try to understand what your relationship with Ford is.” Special researchers will comb through applicants’ past social media history engagement to see how devoted they’ve been to Ford’s brand in the past. Without that dedication documented online, it will be difficult to land a vehicle.
Finally, applicants will be required to sign an airtight legal document that says they won’t sell the vehicle until a certain amount of time has passed. This will help to prevent the risk of those looking to purchase the vehicle only to turn a profit.
Limited Supply, High Demand
There’s expected to be an extremely high demand for this exciting vehicle, but it’s doubtful there will enough to go around. Hundreds of thousands will likely apply, but only a fraction will pass the application process, and even fewer will get the car.
Stormer is certain he’ll qualify for the vehicle. At 55 years old, Stormer has established himself as a Ford fan with two 2006 GTs and several other Ford vehicles. Regarding the application process, Stormer says he’s a fan. “Ford GT owners are some really special people,” he said. “It’s like a brotherhood.”
Stormer says he’ll drive his new GT (when he gets it) and enjoy every minute of it. Those with zero intention of doing the same don’t deserve the vehicle, according to Stormer. At an expected cost of more than $400,000, perhaps the limited supply will be a good thing for more than one applicant.
