(Newswire.net — June 4, 2017) — LONDON, UK – London Bridge has been shut down after a white van swerved off the road into a crowd of pedestrians.

Witnesses report three people jumped out of the van and started to randomly stab pedestrians. The BBC reports that there is more than one fatality at the site. Pictures show a number of people being treated for injuries suffered in the attack that police said have involved a knife and a vehicle.

Witnesses claim that the van hit at least six pedestrians at London Bridge. The incident happened Saturday night, the most crowded time in a week. Images of crowds of people still leaving the area two hours following the attack best show how busy this location in Central London is.

The streets are packed with armed police officers, while helicopters are hovering overhead. People are leaving London Bridge through police checkpoints with their hands up.

Social media report of two more incidents nearby London Bridge.

About the same time the van ploughed into pedestrians on London Bridge, the police responded to reports of a stabbing in Borough Market, a very popular food market, especially with tourists.

A third incident involving shooting was reported in the Vauxhall district, but for the time being, it cannot be related with the other two.

The Metropolitan police said a full report will be ready as soon as all facts are checked, while social media speculate that all three incidents were a coordinated attack.

At this time the situation is under control, but there are still no official figures on the number of fatalities and the injured.

Emergency vehicles responded within minutes and medical teams helped the injured at the scene. Meanwhile, police have confirmed incidents on London Bridge and nearby Borough Market were terrorist attacks.
