(Newswire.net — February 18, 2017) — Are you always panicking over buying people gifts because you have no idea what the perfect gift for them would be? Then this article is for you. Find below four tips to help you buy the perfect gift for anyone.

1. Find out what they really want

It’s easy to fall into the trap of buying something you like as a gift for someone, instead of getting what the person likes or wants.

The best gift you can give anyone is what the person wants. Other than the fact that they’ll be happy they finally got something they’d always wanted, they’ll appreciate the fact that you are a good listener – and you somehow listened to them, especially if they never told you directly.

To do this, observe the person and think of what the person needs or wants. What is broken that they need to replace? What wishes have they made around you? What do you know or think they need but have no time to get? Answering these will give you an idea what the perfect gift would be.

You can also make a list of all the things the person is interested in and things that define who they are. You might not end up giving them anything on that list, but the list should give you enough ideas to go shopping with.

2. Go through someone else

Not sure what the person really wants or needs? Then try asking someone close to them. Their spouse, children, friend, colleague at work, classmate, whoever is close that you can ask might know one or two things about them that’ll give you an idea what you can buy.

They might even go beyond giving you an idea and mention just what the person needs. Nothing could be more perfect.

3. Think communication

One great way to go when planning the perfect gift is to use such gift to communicate to that person.

Think: “what do I want to say to this person?” Or “what message do I want to pass on to this person”, or even “how can I express my feelings to this person?”

Thinking this way will probably always help you get an out-of-the-box gift; something beyond the usual.

For example, if you think your partner has been working too hard, giving her a one-day off ticket, maybe to a concert or even for a trip, and taking on (some of) her responsibility for the day will definitely make a perfect gift. That is practically you communicating: “I notice how hard you work, and I appreciate your efforts, and most importantly, I think you deserve some fun break.”

4. Think handmade/homemade

Where you’re not sure what the person needs, or think they have everything, you can simply go the DIY route. Making something by yourself and gifting it to someone is almost always appreciated as it has to it a personal touch and a ring of you taking the time to think of them.

If you have no idea what to make, head to Pinterest and do some search on DIY items. You can use a search term like “DIY gift ideas,” and something will definitely click.

You still don’t have an idea what to get someone? Then just get them a gift card or gift certificate. Let them use it to get whatever they want and will actually use. You can call this tip no. 5.
