(Newswire.net — May 20, 2016) — Travelling is expensive, and often it is more expensive than it needs to be. Holiday-goers are often forgetting to pack all of the essentials and as a result need to purchase unnecessary items while away.

A recent survey by travel agency, ebookers, revealed that British travellers are wasting £96 million every year just replacing forgotten items. The vast majority of travellers had forgotten something when going on holiday and most of those people (83%) will replace the forgotten items when they arrive at their destination. Spending on average £13.17.

The survey of 2,000 found that Brits’ most forgotten holiday items are:

Despite spending on average an entire day longer to pack than men, women are 5% more likely to forget to pack something they’ll need while away. Unsurprisingly the most forgotten essential is the toothbrush with 24.7% of British holiday-makers forgetting to pack one. Other commonly forgotten items were sun tan lotion and phone chargers. First aid items, medication and glasses were also often left at home.

While women are a little more likely to forget to pack an essential item, the survey showed that men tended to spend more money on holiday, with almost 23% taking over £500 in spending money for one week away.

The survey also asked whether respondents would consider traveling to a nudist resort if it meant their holiday would cost less money. Men seemed to be happier than women to take up the theoretical offer, with a quarter of British men stating they’d do so.
