(Newswire.net — August 27, 2019) — Every year, about 50,000 Americans are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It is not yet known the exact cause of the cancer but there somethings that you do that can increase the risk of the cancer. The obese people have a higher risk of the condition and even old age is also a risk factor for the disease.

If you are already diagnosed with the disease there some foods you need to avoid so as to reduce the symptoms. But before we get to the foods, it is important that you identify the differences that have come up with the Medicare supplement plans 2020 if you are a Medicare beneficiary. Here are some of the foods you need to avoid with pancreatic cancer:

1.      French fries

The main functions of the pancreas is to help in digestion as well as regulate the sugar levels in the body. As the word suggest, French fries are fried and if they are fried then it means that there was a lot of oil used in the process. The French fries contains a lot of fats, and taking a lot of fats is overworking the pancreas and you don’t want to do that if you are already diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. As a matter of fact, overworking your pancreas when you are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer can lead to death.

2.      Onions and garlic

Nausea and pancreatic cancer goes hand in hand. If you are diagnosed with the cancer, then nausea will be a very common problem and eating foods that have strong odors will only set it off. Garlic and onions have strong odor and if you need to avoid the foods if you want to stay comfortably. It is also very important to avoid foods that have lots of spices as the odor from the spices will set off the nausea too. And by the way eating cold foods is even better than eating hot foods.

3.      Beef

Beef is a good source of proteins, probably one of the best but unfortunately it contains high amounts of fats too. And as we have already consuming high amounts of fats especially when you are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer can be fatal. Just consider other sources of proteins that don’t contain lots of fats like beans, nuts and other sources.

4.      Dried fruits

It is recommended that you take fruits each and every day. Different fruits have different health benefits that are vital in our bodies. However, the recent trend of dried fruits is not a route to go if you are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. This is because the dried fruits contain way more sugar compared to the fresh fruits and as we established, another function of the pancreas is regulating sugar levels. If you take more sugars than your pancreas can regulate, you will be overworking your pancreas and you don’t want to do that.
