(Newswire.net — December 3, 2013) Miami, Florida — Toyota unveiled their latest Highlander at the New York auto. The 2014 model is set to be available in showrooms in February next year at a price starting from $46,370. The SUV’s major makeover highlights comfort, quiet operation, and a smooth ride. And like the generation-two Highlander, it offers seats for seven passengers.

The 2014 model’s interior utilized upgraded materials, soft-touch surfaces, as well as ambient lighting around the dashboard and doors. The new Highlander also boasts its enhanced telematics. Toyota calls their system, Entune.

Car buyers will surely appreciate Toyota’s Entune JBL Audio sound system with navigation and an app suite. The improved SUV also comes with an 8-inch touchscreen and Blu-Ray player with RCA inputs.

Another notable feature of the new Highlander is more cargo space behind the third row. According to Toyota, the new model’s increased interior volume and cargo space is up 34%, raising the capacity to almost 14 cubic feet from 10 cubic feet.

New safety options are also added such as a blind-spot monitor, lane-departure warning, and a rear cross-traffic alert.

While the wheelbase is unchanged, the new Highlander’s length has stretched by 2.7 inches, and width expanded from 75.2 to 75.8 inches.

Toyota has yet to give full details on its fuel-economy estimates, but changes under the Highlander’s hood seem to be modest, as the base engine remains to be a 2.7-liter four.
