In this research, the investigators looked into data from 7,675 participants from the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute’s Australian Diabetes, Obesity and Lifestyle Study. This study provided information on their fruit and fruit juice consumption through a food frequency questionnaire.
It has been found the subjects who consumed more whole fruits had a reduced odds of diabetes by 36 percent at five years. There was also a link between markers of insulin sensitivity and fruit intake.
