(Newswire.net — January 29, 2016) Arlington, TEXAS –Useful, safe, and cost-saving tips have been introduced by Accurate Electrical Systems, a world-class electrical repair and remodeling company in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. One of the biggest advantages of an upgrade is to use energy-efficient light-emitting diodes. According to Energy.gov, they use 75% less energy than fluorescent lighting and emit a comparative small amount of heat. An LED light fixture can be used in the kitchen, in an industrial facility, or in a parking garage. They come in the form of recessed downlights, replacement bulbs, and holiday lights and can last for decades.
Aside from energy efficiency, an upgraded lighting fixture provides adequate lighting. This reduces the chances of someone falling, bumping into furniture, or tripping over something. At the very least, the right fixture can provide the right look and accentuate the décor of a room.
How to Upgrade
Maggie Smith, President of AES, said, “Many people are aware of the advantages of LED lighting fixtures, but are uncertain as to how to go about upgrading. Just blindly going for the best-rated energy saving product is not going to do it. The process requires knowledge and planning in order to ensure efficiency, safety, and functionality.”
To ensure a successful lighting upgrade in any setting, AES suggests the customer:
- Determine the reason for upgrading. In addition to saving on energy costs, upgrades can be done for specific functional improvements such as dimming. Perhaps it will help with branding. Different systems have different controls, including occupancy sensors and the ability to set thermostats.
- Measure the illumination of the room or outdoor area. By doing so, one can maximize lighting coverage with the replacement they choose.
- Consider the cost of upgrading. Compare the energy and maintenance costs of an old fixture from the past two years to the manufacturer’s performance claims and installation and maintenance charges. Also factor in warranty coverage, vibration tolerance, and surge protection.
A few other upgrade choices can maximize the outcome of installing more modern lighting fixtures.
- Layer the lighting fixtures such that different types are used. A common choice is to combine recessed and pendant lighting in a kitchen. It has various benefits to how a room looks and works. The practice actually expands the aesthetic choices for various rooms.
- Cover any type of exposed bulb. It can reduce heat output but, even if an energy-efficient bulb is naked, covering it with a shade or something else can impact the look of a room and better distribute light.
- Change the bulb to mix and match colors. There are many types of bulbs available and the color scheme of the room can be dramatically altered. That’s why the right choice, despite being simple to implement, is so important.
Lastly, AES does not recommend tending to wiring or equipment issues without any electrical experience. Its technicians are licensed, bonded, and insured. If there are any electrical problems, they can fix them safely in any residential, commercial, business, school, or industrial setting.
