(Newswire.net — July 15, 2014) — AMG Services announced a summer science camp for underprivileged children in Oregon. The camp, which will last the entire month of August, will allow children to work on science projects and experience the beauty of nature.
“Science camps are a strong source of motivation for children to opt for science studies,” Ms. Janice Lanner head of AMG Services’ children’s department said. “Unfortunately children from disadvantaged backgrounds have little chance of benefiting from these inspiring camps.”
The camp to be held in Alton Baker Park in Eugene, Oregon is intended for disadvantaged children from Oregon. AMG Services is working with community organizers in Oregon to identify children who will benefit from this experience.
The camp is expected to focus on every aspect of science and engineering including robotics, chemistry, the environment, zoo animals, architecture, space science, dinosaur fossils, and many other science topics of interest to younger children. It’s has been designed to be a fun-packed camp using play to convey science and engineering concepts.
The camp is expected to last four weeks and children will participate in developing their own concepts on subjects involved. The camp will especially focus on the concept of play, which enhances the ability to learn more complex topics.
“After participating in this engaging learning environment, there will be plenty of excitement generated in these children to endear science to them,” Lanner said. “We’ve designed the learning environment to make science education appealing to grade school kids, so they’ll take that love of science with them as the years progress.”
This is a residential camp and is to host some 200 children. There will be twenty teaching assistants hired to take care of the children during the four weeks in the camp.
