(Newswire.net — June 17, 2013) Baton Rouge, LA — When summer arrives each year, one of the last things most busy families want to do is spend their free time inside cleaning their home.
If spending less time cleaning your home sounds like a good idea, here are some helpful ideas from the house cleaning professionals.
“It always starts with having the right products and a well-thought out plan,” said Ellen Folks, owner of Guarantee Girls, a Baton Rouge maid service.
“Make sure you have all the cleaning supplies you need and they are easily accessible. People waste so much time scrambling at the last minute because they do not have the cleaning products they need, and they don’t have a plan for what rooms they want to address, in what order. All you need to do, to get started, is to simply find the room that bothers you the most and begin there.”
Mrs. Folks also recommends having a written summer cleaning checklist, which are available for free on the Internet and outlines all of the major chores and items to focus on when cleaning your house this summer.
“A checklist is a great tool to use,” noted Mrs. Folks. “You’ll get a lot of satisfaction from cleaning a space then checking it off your list before moving on to the next room.”
Once you have the checklist in hand, a cleaning caddy organized and a plan mapped out, here are some additional summer cleaning tips to help you get the best results:
Kitchen — Vacuum your refrigerator coils, this will help your refrigerator run more efficiently. Clean your refrigerator inside and out. Dust the tops of your cabinets. Wash the fronts and insides of your cabinets. Clean your chandeliers.
Wipe down all of your kitchen appliances including the small ones on your counter tops. Clean your oven and scour your stovetop. Run 1/2 a cup of vinegar through your dishwasher. If you have plastic drawer organizers, run them through the dishwasher or hand-wash them.
Bedrooms — Flip and rotate your mattresses. Vacuum your mattresses to get the dust mites out. Launder your mattress pads and pillow covers. Vacuum under your bed and behind your furniture. Launder your comforter and pillow shams.
Laundry Room — Disassemble and vacuum your dryer vent. Run ½ cup vinegar through your washing machine. Wipe down all surfaces including folding table and cabinets.
Garage & Outdoors — Turn your outside faucets on and get out your hoses. Clean your grill. Organize your garage. Clean your garage floor. Inspect the outside of your house for needed repairs. Re-set the timers on your lights for summer hours. Clean out your rain gutters. Hang up your bird feeders and fill with seed.
You can adjust this list as you see fit. It’s just a reference guide to help you get ready for a great summer.
