(Newswire.net — August 21, 2014) Bolton, Greater Manchester —
A Manchester teenager is helping a Bolton mobile tech start up to grow rapidly during their first year in business.
Abigail Livesey-Parker, 18, from Walkden, joined the growing business Mobelio in June as a social media apprentice.
Since then she’s been managing social media profiles, running direct mail campaigns and writing blog and online content.
The teenager was taken on by Mobelio to help them keep up with phenomenal growth and a rapid increase in the number of small businesses signing up for Mobelio’s mobile marketing services.
Abigail was chosen from a shortlist provided by The Manchester College, one of Europe’s largest providers of further education.
Co – founder David Chamberlain, a former apprentice, said: “Since Abigail started; we’ve been really impressed with her eagerness to learn and progress within the company. Apprenticeships allow us to train new staff without the large overhead – so that in the future, we can promote from within.
“Apprentices aren’t just there to make cups of tea and file papers. With the right training, I believe that our apprentices will be the managers and directors of tomorrow.”
Mobelio provides a wide range of mobile marketing services targeted at small businesses worldwide. These include mobile loyalty programs for customers run via their smartphones, DIY mobile websites and discount coupons redeemable with shops, restaurants and independent traders – via a mobile phone.
Abigail said: “I love coming to work at Mobelio. I’ve learned such a huge amount in such a short space of time. I’m treated like a valuable member of the team and not just the most junior person in the office.
“I think I bring a can-do attitude and a hunger to learn to the job. What I do at work is always changing and expanding because everyone at Mobelio has so much faith in me. I’ve been updating Mobelio’s Facebook and Twitter accounts to developing concepts for clients’ loyalty programmes.
“This apprenticeship is so much better for me than sitting in a classroom.”
Paul Sobers from the Apprenticeship Team at The Manchester College, who worked with Mobelio to recruit Abigail, said: “Apprenticeships are a great way for young people to learn the right skills for the jobs that are available now. We work closely with the business community in and around Manchester to create Apprenticeships that benefit both the apprentices and businesses like Mobelio, and we are always delighted to hear about our apprentice’s success. We wish Mobelio and Abigail all the best and hope it’s the start of a great career.
“More and more companies like Mobelio are seeing the benefits of Apprenticeships and are creating opportunities for local young people to gain the relevant skills to build a career.”
Mobelio was launched in August 2013 by David and business partner Jamie Garside and currently has 1,500 businesses, across the globe, using their technology to help their businesses grow. For more information about Mobelio, visit http://mobelio.com
