Bridgestone Recalls Tires Due to Tread Separation Risk

(Newswire.net — May 10, 2016) West Palm Beach, FLORIDA — Bridgestone/Firestone North America Tire (Bridgestone) has announced a recall of a specific line of tires suspected to have faulty rubber coverage.

The tires affected are replacement passenger car tires Firestone FR710 tires, size 205/65R16, and Champion Fuel Fighter tires, sizes 205/65R15 and 205/70R15.

It is believed the recalled tires may have been produced with inconsistent rubber coverage over the steel plies. This defect can cause tread separation, which could increase the risk of vehicle crash.

It is estimated 32 individual tires have potentially been affected during the manufacturing process, however Bridgestone has voluntarily recalled almost 2900 in an effort to be exceptionally cautious. Bridgestone has been manufacturing tires for over 100 years and has a favorable reputation for demonstrating a commitment to consumer safety and customer service.

The tires involved were manufactured between March 27, 2016, and April 9, 2016.

Bridgestone will be notifying all customers affected by the recall, although the manufacturer has yet to provide a notification schedule. Dealers will replace the recalled tires free of charge through Oct 31, 2016.
