(Newswire.net — June 20, 2014) Thomson, Illinois — The folk band “Dirt Simple” will perform at the Heirloom Market & Café June 28, capping a jam-packed fun day that also will feature a farmer’s market, classic car cruise-in, food and wine tasting, and the popular Old Time Heirloom Hour.
The day will begin with the Heirloom Farmer’s Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the Old Time Heirloom Hour following at 10 a.m. The family friendly Old Time Heirloom Hour will feature a show with Nick Huizenga and Bob Whitten and music from Brooke Byam. Byam was selected for American Idol in 2004 and even once performed a song in a 20th Century Fox movie. Her 2013 song “Thank You For Leavin’” debuted at No. 14 on the Independent Music Network Country Chart. There will be food, beer and wine samples following the Old Time Heirloom Hour.
A classic car cruise-in will take place from noon to 2 p.m., with a “window rattling” contest at 1 p.m. The cruise-in will feature cars from the “Window Rattlers Union” – muscle cars like “The General” and Dodge’s “Little Red Wagon,” and late 60s fastback Mustangs.
“Dirt Simple,” which will perform that night from 5-8 p.m., features Kendra Beth Swanson, who plays the banjo and fiddle and also sings, performing many of her own original tunes. The band hails from Oregon, Illinois.
