DuraPlas, a Dallas-based manufacturer of engineered plastic products, has signed a nationwide master distribution agreement with Houston-based RectorSeal to expand availability of its PolarPad and PolarPan product lines to HVAC contractors across the United States.
The partnership marks a significant milestone for DuraPlas, which has supplied industrial and agricultural plastic solutions for more than five decades. Through RectorSeal’s extensive wholesale network, DuraPlas will now bring its lightweight, corrosion-resistant mounting pads and condensate pans to thousands of contractors nationwide. Initial shipments are expected to begin stocking this month, with full availability starting Nov. 1.

The distribution deal underscores a quiet but growing shift in the HVAC industry toward advanced plastic components that offer practical benefits over traditional materials like concrete and metal. DuraPlas’s PolarPad and PolarPan are made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), a lightweight yet durable polymer engineered to withstand harsh conditions.

The products are designed to solve long-standing field challenges faced by installers and service technicians. Concrete condenser pads, for example, are heavy to transport and prone to cracking over time, while metal drain pans can rust and corrode in damp environments. By contrast, DuraPlas’s HDPE components are non-corrosive, weather-resistant and easy to handle — qualities that can help contractors save time and reduce equipment damage during installation.
PolarPad: Lighter Weight, Same Strength
The PolarPad is a molded HDPE mounting base used for outdoor units such as condensers, heat pumps and pool filters. DuraPlas says it weighs up to 90% less than an equivalent concrete pad while still providing comparable support. Reinforced internal ribbing ensures rigidity and even weight distribution, while a textured, non-slip top surface mimics the clean look of concrete.
The lightweight construction means a single technician can carry and position a pad without machinery, making installation faster and safer. The pad’s resistance to cracking, weather and UV exposure also helps ensure it maintains its shape and stability over time.
PolarPan: A Heavy-Duty Drain Pan Replacement
The PolarPan was designed to replace metal condensate pans that often fail due to corrosion. Made from the same HDPE material as the PolarPad, it features molded-in structural ribbing and reinforced sidewalls to prevent warping. Pre-installed, switchable drain fittings allow contractors to adapt the pan to different configurations, reducing the number of SKUs distributors must stock.
The PolarPan’s durability also reduces the risk of leaks and water damage — a common source of callbacks for contractors. DuraPlas markets the pan as a “lifetime” solution that resists cracking even in sub-freezing temperatures or high-heat environments.

Beyond product design, DuraPlas and RectorSeal point to the efficiency and sustainability benefits of plastic components. Lightweight materials lower shipping costs and reduce fuel consumption, while injection molding allows complex parts to be produced with minimal waste.
