(Newswire.net — June 14, 2013) Albuquerque, NM — Enjoying fresh food fast has never been so fun thanks to the booming farmer’s markets that can now be found in thousands of towns across the United States. With more and more people rediscovering the health and environmental benefits of local flavor, Karen Pettine, author of Little Pearl Publishing’s latest cookbook, saw an opportunity to do something she loves while helping others get inspired to eat healthy, home-cooked “farm-to-table” meals year-round. The result of her efforts is a fresh new cookbook published this week and which will be available at no cost to Amazon customers through Monday, June 17th.
Pettine’s book, The Farmer’s Market Seasonal Cookbook, is a collection of sixty recipes that span all four seasons. Each recipe showcases in-season produce and locally grown goods, exciting readers to get to their local markets so that they too can try something new for dinner.
The recipes, which are as mouthwatering as they are simple, are meant to inspire at-home cooks to try something new without overwhelming them with hours of prep work and professional techniques that need to be searched on YouTube. The directions for each recipe are clear and detailed and the photographs that accompany several are beautiful. At the end of the day The Farmer’s Market Seasonal Cookbook is a realistic approach to fast, healthy eating that encourages readers to step out of their “taste zone” and try new ingredients that have been locally and organically grown right in their very own hometown.
Pettine, a member of Albuquerque’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Skarsgard Organics, says that it was a bit of a learning curve at first, adjusting to cooking with fresh, sometimes unheard of, ingredients rather than old stand-bys and processed food packets that are “ready to eat in ten minutes or less”. But in the end it was worth it, she says, noting that not only does she and her husband feel better but that they have more fun cooking and planning meals together too.
“When I first joined Skarsgard Organics,” explains Pettine, “I was immediately exposed to a wide variety of vegetables and fruits that had previously never made the cut at the grocery store…but that was all part of the fun and also part of why I’ve decided to compile this book of recipes.”
To pick up a free copy of Pettine’s Farmer’s Market Cookbook, head over to Amazon before June 17th.
