(Newswire.net — June 3, 2022) Orlando, FL — Scientists have been warning against excessive intake of sugar as it is associated with undesirable health outcomes. In a study, excess sugar has been found to increase the odds of heart disease.

A ground-breaking study was carried out by the researchers from the University of Surrey.

In this study, it has been found that healthy individuals who consume high levels of sugar are at a heightened odds of developing cardiovascular disease.

The investigators discovered that consumption of a high-sugar diet has resulted in an increase in the levels of fat in the blood and stored fat in the livers of the subjects.

The findings of this interesting research were published in Clinical Science.

The investigators looked into two groups of men who had either high or low levels of liver fat and were fed a high or low sugar diet. They also tried to see if the amount of liver fat influences the effects of sugar on their cardiovascular health.

It is worth noting that the low sugar diet had no more than 140 calories a day worth of sugar, which is an amount close to the recommended intake. On the other hand, the high sugar diet contained 650 calories worth.

After 12 weeks on a high sugar diet, the men with NAFLD exhibited changes in their fat metabolism. It is worth noting these changes are linked with the increased odds of heart attacks, cardiovascular disease, and strokes.

Experts say that this biochemical process called fat metabolism occurs when fats are sent to and broken down in the blood. It also occurs when they are used by the cells of the body.

The findings show that when the group of healthy men with a reduced level of liver fat ate a high amount of sugar, it led to an increase in their liver fat. It also resulted in their fat metabolism turning similar to that of the men with NAFLD.

Professor of Nutritional Metabolism, Bruce Griffin, said: “Our findings provide new evidence that consuming high amounts of sugar can alter your fat metabolism in ways that could increase your risk of cardiovascular disease.

Health authorities continue to investigate the effects of taking some measures in enhancing and protecting heart health. Some remedies like the use of curcumin may be helpful. Curcumin has long been studied due to its anti-inflammatory effects, which are vital for heart health.

It may be obtained through the use of formulas like VitaBreeze Curcumin, which is popularized for its high potency and purity (amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00JA4TLTI/)
