(Newswire.net — August 17, 2016) — The Dominican branch of a renowned Spanish bank (we are not authorized to disclose the bank’s name) with worldwide presence recently completed the migration of its JetForm-based document system to DocPath’s technology, ensuring at the same time that the bank’s existing form designs would not be lost and optimized its document processes.
In Urgent Need of Change
JetForm / Adobe Central Server software, which is currently owned by Adobe Systems Inc., was one of the first document software products geared towards the design and generation of business documents for desktop laser printers. The software was very successful, reaching numerous companies around the world. However, firms that are still using JetForm technology today, are in an urgent need of finding a replacement document software.
This is the case of the Dominican branch of an important international bank. Their JetForm software worked fine until recently, when the bank needed to upgrade their AS400 machine to a newer server running IBM i V7R2 software, which caused JetForm to stop working on the new server. The bank was using JetForm for designing its forms and generating business documents in PCL format for printing purposes only. The documents were generated manually by the users when they processed each transaction in real time.
After carefully weighing different options, the bank opted for DocPath’s Customer Communications Management software to replace their JetForm technology and optimize the document process across all of its phases.
Phases of the Document project
The migration project consisted of different phases. The first phase included the preliminary analysis and regular analysis completed by DocPath experts, to ensure that the new software would respond to the bank’s requirements and to guarantee correct implementation.
In a second phase, a DocPath technician traveled on site to install DocPath’s software on the client’s new AS400 server and to convert all their existing JetForm production forms into DocPath compatible form designs.
A third phase consisted of providing specific DocPath software training to their form design team and their automation support team. Finally, the project went live mid 2016, when the bank decided to eliminate all JetForm processes that were previously launched via the old AS400 server and became self-sufficient, generating all their documents with DocPath technology.
One Solution for all Offices
The bank chose DocPath’s document solution for migration from JetForm to DocPath, in combination with Remote Office Printing for System i (AS400). Remote Office Printing is a comprehensive document software solution designed specifically for large networks of branch and local offices. It allows users to remotely request the creation of a document in real time and instantly view or print it. Moreover, DocPath’s Remote Office Printing easily integrates with a company’s existing business applications.
On the other hand, through DocPath’s varied experience in working with different environments and architectures, the problem related to high bandwidth consumption when printing or visualizing heavy documents, such as PDFs and PCLs, is effectively resolved.
Agile Design and Printing
The Dominican branch of the bank started to use DocPath’s document software in mid 2016. Currently, they are using DocPath’s design tool, on Windows, to modify forms that were originally designed with JetForm software and to design new forms from scratch.
The bank is still generating PCL-formatted business documents in real time, but they now have the possibility to include other output formats into their processes whenever their business needs require so. With DocPath’s document generation engine, all the bank’s service users – administrative personnel, agents and third parties– are able to request the creation, instant preview and printing of a document with a single click.
The project was a success. DocPath was able to ensure a quality return on the bank’s initial investments in JetForm made years ago and the replacement process was straightforward and easy to implement, as DocPath’s experts provided transparency throughout the entire project.
