(Newswire.net — November 14, 2017) Mathis, TX — Henry Porretto, former Galveston Police Department Chief and current consultant for Mathis Police Department in Texas, believes he can assist with the serious issues that the Gregory Police Department is facing. After hearing about the department’s troubles, Porretto went on to call Mayor Celestino Zambrano of Gregory City to offer his services to the city’s police department.

Gregory Police Department’s issues became known to the public when city officials fired Robert Meager Jr. From his position as police chief two weeks ago for sexual misconduct. A female police officer emailed her complaint to council members on Sept. 21 and accused Meager of masturbating in front of her. After Meager’s dismissal, the city council members discussed the police department’s issues during a special meeting on Oct. 23.

“We have serious issues and we’re confronting them one at a time,” admitted Zambrano. “The police department is one department that needs attention.”

During the special meeting, Porretto gave a presentation to show what he can do to improve the Gregory Police Department. Having served as a consultant at the Mathis Police Department for two years now, Porretto has the background and experience to turn things around for the Gregory Police Department. To prove this, he discussed the city’s former police issues at the meeting and how he took care of them. To learn more about Henry, visit here.

“What ended up happening is we had to take action against some people who weren’t doing their job,” said Porretto. “Two people ended up not staying around. They couldn’t change.”

Porretto was able to determine which officers deserved to remain on the force and those who needed to leave.

“We were able to identify who was invested in the community,” he added. “You have to know they care about the organization and the city.”

Porretto believes that they “deserve to give an employee a fair and impartial investigation” and that “not treating people fairly is where we get in trouble.” According to him, anyone involved in his investigations began with a clean slate.

Porretto has worked for the law enforcement field for over three decades now and has even served as Mathis City’s interim police chief until the best person for the job—according to his investigation and assessment—was found. As interim police chief, Porretto implemented policies to help not just the Mathis Police Department but also the citizens and the community. His efforts, dedication and success have been publicly recognized by City Manager Michael Barrera.
