(Newswire.net — June 17, 2014) THOMSON, Ill. – The hillbilly string family band Barncore Betty will perform a free concert at the Heirloom Market & Café in Thomson, Ill., Saturday, June 21, capping a day that also will include a farmer’s market and music by Sandra Senior.
Barncore Betty (formerly Johnny Outlaw), featuring the husband and wife team of John and Jen Doyle and their son Keith Barber, play hillbilly string like few can, thanks in part to a homemade washtub stand-up bass, banjo and a mandolin, giving the audience a unique acoustic string sound. They also sing. People often say that family bands blend together like no other, and this group does just that.
John and Jen have been singing together for 20 years, and Keith joined the band more than a year ago. They say: “If you want music, turn the radio on. If you want to be entertained, come see the all-new Barncore Betty!” They record with Barncore Records.
They will play from 5-8 p.m. June 21.
Earlier that day, the Heirloom Farmer’s Market will be held on site from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with music by Sandra Senior from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The market sells everything from homemade crafts, to unique kids’ toys, to grass-fed beef, and the old-town bistro-style restaurant features grilled Panini’s, soups, gourmet coffee, fresh-baked desserts and ice cream, along with indoor and outdoor seating.
