(Newswire.net — February 28, 2014) Portland, OR — What are some of the major offenders that cause these hormonal imbalances? What can you about them and how to remove them from your everyday life?
Arsenic
No surprise here! Arsenic has always been a deadly toxin that you never to want to eat. It is commonly found in rat poison. However, it is increasingly found in drinking water and food, and most recently in chicken, primarily found in their food supply in order to increase and speed up growth.
Arsenic main interference with hormonces is in the glucocorticoid system which regulates how we process sugar and carbohydrates. When this system is disrupted, you typically find weight gain, immune system suppression, insulin resistance, osteoporosis, and high blood pressure.
Avoid eating conventionally raised factory farm chickens and stay away from improperly filtered or non filtered water.
BPA
BPA is a relative newcomer in the disruptor arena but is a major contributor. This is a chemical often found in plastics that mimics estrogen in the body and can increase the risk for developing obesity, heart disease and certain cancers. Recent governmental statistics show that over 93% of the population have some amount of BPA in their systems!
Avoid foods that come in a can that are lined with BPA, drinking water from plastic bottles and any plastic specifically labeled with “PC” (polycarbonate) or reclycling #7.
Lead
Lead poisoning has been linked to brain damage, premature births, kidney damage, and nervous system problems. In other words, it’s harmful to nearly every bodily system. Recent research indicates it blocks your ability to handle stress and leads to lower sex hormone levels. When those two biggies occur, it can increase anxiety, blood pressure and lead to depression.
Avoid homes built prior to 1978 and non-filtered or improperly filtered drinking water.
Mercury
Mercury has always been known to cause problems. But now these problems are associated with seafood, vaccinations and those dental fillings.
Pregnant women are particularly at risk. Or maybe it should be the fetus who is more harmed is mercury interferes with the proper brain devolpment of the child.
But mercury also binds to a hormone that regulates women’s menstrual cycle and ovulation, disrupting the proper signal pathways. Also, it may play a role in diabetes, since it damages cells in the pancreas that produce insulin, which our body uses to metabolize sugar.
Avoid farmed seafood or salmon, mercury fillings and vaccinations which contain mercury.
Organophosphate pesticides
What?
These specific pesticides are used to destroy the nerve centers of insects and are one of the most common pesticides in use today. These have been linked to fertility problems, decreased testosterone, altered thyroid levels and improper brain development.
Avoiding these pesticides is as simple as choosing organic produce. Or eat more of the produce that has the fewest residual pesticides such as asparagus, avocados, cabbage, grapefruit, kiwi, mango, mushrooms, onions, pineapples and sweet potatoes.
You owe it to yourself to eliminate these substances in your daily life!
