Foster Village Austin is a charitable organization dedicated to connecting foster families with helpful resources and advocating for change within the foster system. With their new Ladders of Success Program, the founders of TOTTLR hope to provide toddlers in foster care with the tools needed to play, grow, and adapt to their environment.
Research has pointed to various physical and psychological advantages of climbing for children, including improvements in attention, focus, hand-eye coordination, balance, problem-solving, concentration, decision-making, and spatial awareness.
During World War II, Jewish Hungarian pediatrician Dr. Emmi Pikler developed a simple wooden climbing frame in an effort to help young children in orphanages improve their resilience, confidence, and autonomy.
Unlike similar products on the market that are targeted towards older children, TOTTLR’s Pikler Triangle was specifically designed to encourage the mental and physical development of toddlers ages 1 to 3 years old.
The CPSIA Certified Safe climber is made from splinter-free white Baltic birch wood with a non-toxic, water-based finish. The product also includes a discrete lock pin that is permanently installed to ensure that it will not be misplaced.
With a weight of just under 10 pounds, the Pikler Triangle can be folded flat and tucked into any small space for storage. Parents who wish to add more variety to their child’s play as they grow can also purchase the company’s adjustable ramp slide.
Individuals with questions about TOTTLR’s products or Ladders of Success Program can call the company’s support team at (409) CLIMBER.
A spokesperson for the company said: “We believe our climbers are not just toys, they are little ladders of success. They are a concrete way toddlers can start getting a sense of accomplishment and the confidence that they will succeed.”
