Faith Borkowsky, a Certified Dyslexia Practitioner, reading expert, and the founder of High Five Literacy and Academic Coaching, has released a new book series about literacy education.
Faith Borkowsky’s new book series focuses on the interrelationships between language, literacy and dyslexia and it has been authored for parents of (0-8yr)preschoolers and community-based professionals, including preschool teachers, pediatricians, librarians and daycare providers. The award-winning reading expert is proud to be publishing this new book series through her organization, High Five Literacy and Academic Coaching. Each book in the new series is geared towards a different reader, these being the pediatrician, the preschool teacher, and the librarian, and the collection comes in response to what Borkowsky perceives as America’s reading debacle. As the author explains, there is currently a profound reading level and literacy discrepancy amongst America’s youngest children, one which reflects both socioeconomic and racial lines, and an inadequate understanding of the varied learning needs of a differently abled student body.
In light of systemic failings in the education system in the United States, Borkowsky has authored her ‘If Only’ series to impart the knowledge that she has gained working as a certified academic coach for students with Dyslexia, Auditory Processing Disorder, ADD/ADHD, and a host of other learning difficulties. It also reflects decades of experience as a literacy consultant working with school districts across the country.
In short, her book series distills these experiences and reaches out to parents, teachers, doctors, and community leaders, offering them research-based, peer-reviewed programs that have produced positive gains for students.

Borkowsky’s previous books for High Five Literacy and Academic Coaching include ‘Reading Intervention Behind School Walls: Why Your Child Continues to Struggle’ and ‘Failing Students or Failing Schools? A Parent’s Guide to Reading Instruction and Intervention’. Both of these texts garnered significant acclaim for Borkowsky’s passionate, innovative, and parent-ready approach to reading instruction, and have culminated in her new ‘If Only I Would Have Known…’ series.
Borkowsky believes that, given that school systems remain slow to implement meaningful change, it is parents and community leaders who can make the most profound difference to a child’s literacy outcomes. As such, the ‘If Only’ series reflects her belief that the solution to America’s reading debacle “lies in educating families and community-based professionals to provide them with common sense strategies for building reading-ready preschoolers and tools and knowledge to effectively advocate for proper instruction for their children”.
Sally Grimes, a well-known American literacy consultant and the Director of Grimes Reading Institute in Massachusetts, said of the ‘If Only’ series, “Not only is this an important book for parents, it is important for state and national policy-makers, leaders of adult education, corporations and schools, in general. To have so much reading failure in this country is a matter of Social Justice. This valuable little book meets a major need and its dissemination is very important.”
