(Newswire.net — May10, 2013) Montreal, Quebec — A few weeks ago, A mother of nine was released to Rosie Animal Adoption. After delivering nine pups, an obstruction in her digestive tract had prevented her from digesting any nutrition for several weeks. The dog was malnourished, dehydrated and was admitted into the Pierrefonds Animal Hospital for emergency surgery. She was given the name Angel because she was in such a bad state, it would take several angels to help her survive.
Rosie Animal Adoption has released a video updating Angel’s condition and progress. In the video, Dr. Laurie Dunbar of the Pierrefonds Animal Hospital comments on her two-hour surgery. Two socks had been ingested by Angel and fourteen centimetres of small intestine had to be removed. There were several other complications as well and these are explained in detail in the video. Dr. Florence Erdmann comments on Angel’s rehab and progress to date. The first several days were critical and there was much concern that Angel may not recover. Continuous care was provided along with a blood transfusion and Angel slowly started to get better. The complete story is told in the video.
A Rosie Animal Adoption volunteer comments, “Due to the lack of proper provincial legislation in Quebec, cases like Angel’s are common. There needs for more awareness of the state of animal abuse in Quebec. We need to force our politicians to change current laws so all animals are better protected against abuse.”
Angel’s surgery and recovery will cost in the thousands. Rosie Animal Adoption is pleading for donations to help offset the costs of Angel’s situation and so that the organization can help other dogs as well. Rosie Animal Adoption is run completely by volunteers who denate their time freely. All money raised goes straight to the health and well being of the dogs. The public can make a donation with a credit card by going to Rosie’s website or they can contact the organization directly.
