(Newswire.net — October 18, 2013) —
What is Movember? It is a registered non-profit organisation, an official global charity dedicated to raising awareness about men’s health issues. It focuses on Prostate Cancer, Testicular Cancer and Mental Health problems.
Movember first started off with 30 members in Australia in 2003 and since then has inspired over 3 Million Mo Bro’s and Sista’s across 21 countries. It has become a truly global movement that is changing the face of men’s health through the power of the moustache.
The funds raised by Mo Bros and Mo Sista’s go to support world class men’s health programmes which are focused on education and awareness, living beyond cancer and staying mentally healthy.
How does it work and how can you get involved? Movember encourages men, known as Mo Bro’s, to start off clean shaven on the 1st November, now renamed Movember, to grow their Mo (slang for moustache) throughout the 30 days of the month. Movember is not just for men however. You can be encouraged and supported by a Mo Sista who can be your partner, family member, friend or colleague. Mo Sista’s are an important part of Movembers success and do everything that their Mo Bro’s do but without a Mo! Most important of all is that you first register at Movember.com as an individual or part of a team and you will be sent all the information you need to get started raising funds and have an enjoyable and exciting time.
The idea is to have FUN while you are growing and nurturing your Mo. Take photos to show your progress, send them to Movember.com, tweet your friends or post your pictures on Facebook. Host a Mo Party at your favourite bar or restaurant or hold it at your workplace or college. Crown your own Man of Movember and Miss Movember 2013. Movember will send you a FREE party pack to help promote and brand your event as a Movember celebration. Remember the important thing is that all of this fun is designed to promote awareness.
There are events being held all around the world and hundreds of thousands of people are sharing their Mo experiences. So if you want to find out more and be inspired to join the good fight and be a part of Generation Moustache in 2013 visit their website at www.movember.com
Significant steps forward have been made since 2003, but there is much still to be done. So what are you waiting for get your Mo going now and maybe, just maybe change somebody’s life for the better.
