Android developer Scott Tucker is proud to announce the release of a new jogging app to track jogging stats and focus on community support. The app will be called sMILES, and will be available for free to anyone with an Android smart phone. The app, which is slated for release next month, aims to take over the Android jogging app market with its superior design.

Developer Scott Tucker has already made several successful apps for both Android and iPhone, and is famous for his simple, addictive game apps that sell for less than a dollar. However, Tucker decided to turn his focus to jogging as a way to maintain his 2014 New Year’s resolution: to jog every day.

“I tried out so many of the other jogging apps while trying to maintain my new habit of jogging,” says Tucker. “None of them worked. I was uninspired. I felt myself slipping. That’s when I decided to make my own jogging app.”

Tucker designed the app to not only track how long and how many miles a jogger has undertaken for his or her exercise period, but also designed the app to give friendly inspiration after each run in the form of a 19th century-era butler named Miles. The app gives the user the facts of his run, gentle inspiration, as well as some much-needed community support, because it is integrated with the users’ social networks.

Tucker partnered with his longtime friend and fellow designer Nora Ortiz for insight into making the app appealing for both men and women.

“When I tested it amongst my guy friends, long before the final product was ready, they loved it. Not so much with my wife or my female friends,” says Tucker, speaking of the product re-design that made the app a tool for both genders. “My hope is that everyone decides to use sMILES in order to inspire themselves and stick to jogging. I want everyone to have fun and to be healthy.”
