(Newswire.net — February 24, 2021) Orlando, FL — The number of studies investigating the potential cures and culprits of kidney disease continues to increase. One of the reasons why this condition is gaining increasing attention in the scientific community is its high prevalence.

In the United States in 2016, it has been found nearly 125,000 individuals started getting treatment for End-Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD). It is further worth mentioning that 2 in every 1,000 individuals were on dialysis or were living with a kidney transplant.

On a daily basis, there are over 240 people on dialysis who die. It is also important to stress that it is found to be more common in men. In the American population, hypertension and diabetes are found to be the main causes of ESKD.

A study was published in the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (CJASN).

In this community-based study of African-American adults in Mississippi, it has been found that increased collective consumption of sweetened fruit drinks, soda, and water was linked with a higher likelihood of developing chronic kidney disease (CKD).

It was carried out by Casey Rebholz PhD, MS, MNSP, MPH (Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health) and her colleagues.

According to Dr. Rebholz, there is a lack of comprehensive information on the health implications of the wide range of beverage options that are available in the food supply.

Scientists urge more studies to be carried out to explore more of the effects of certain beverages on the kidneys.

The good news is that today, there are many studies looking into the potentially helpful ways to combat kidney disease.

Probiotics are one of the highly recommended remedies. These beneficial bacteria have been widely studied by researchers due to their remarkable healing potentials.

According to experts, the progression of CKD may be accelerated through dysbiosis of the intestinal microbiota. This has been found to be due to the increase in the levels of urea toxins.

Interestingly, probiotics have been found to aid in maintaining the physiological balance of the intestinal microbiota. This has been found to be how these beneficial bacteria work in benefiting the kidneys.

More studies are still being encourage to explore the healing goodness of probiotics for kidney health. However, their use is actually widespread and is even associated with a myriad of disease-fighting effects.
