(Newswire.net — July 17, 2020) Orlando, FL — Health authorities have long been stressing the importance of enhancing and protecting brain health. There are measures scientifically found to aid in helping the brain, and one is to engage regularly in exercise.

A recently-carried-out study has shown that staying physically active in old age may aid in preserving memory and thinking skills.

According to lead researchers Dr. Aron Buchman, physical activity may provide a cognitive reserve that helps preserve the brain even in the face of dementia.

Dr. Buchman is a professor of neurology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

The study has further shown that physical activity remained helpful even if the brains have already exhibited signs of lesions or other markers linked to Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias.

In this research, the investigators found that subjects who were most active had much better thinking and memory skills compared to those who lived a sedentary lifestyle.

This interesting study was published online in the Neurology journal,

Today, there are many in the scientific community are investigating into the most effective ways to fight brain health issues. It is worth mentioning that some therapeutic compounds like curcumin are scientifically found beneficial for and even protective to brain health.

It is worth noting that this phytochemical called curcumin can be found in turmeric, which is an ancient disease-fighting spice that has long been used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine.

Scientists say that curcumin works wonders in fighting cognitive impairment. It has various healing compounds that can protect and enhance brain health.

Researchers suggest it could aid in warding off neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. It may aid in controlling inflammation produced by oxidative stress, which has long been linked with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

More particularly, curcumin aids in scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS), preventing them from damaging the cells. Its ant-inflammatory activities are also linked with preventive effects against neuronal damage as well as cognitive impairment.

Dr. Ramassamy at the University of Laval in Quebec carried out a review.

In this review, it has been found curcumin has highly effective antioxidant effects that could stave off neuronal death.

There are several other mechanisms curcumin has been found to work in taking better care of the brain. It is a highly recommended natural preventive remedy not just for brain health, but also for other aspects of health.
