(Newswire.net — July 7, 2013) Geraldton, AU — The Family Care Organisation (TFCO) launches its new web site, http://cures-from-nature.com, which features natural cures for common illness’s. One of which is the natural remedy for sore throat.
“Sore throat, a condition that makes the throat feels itchy and scratchy, can when aggravated cause strep throat that can result in kidney diseases and rheumatic fever that can damage the valves of the heart,” stated Daniel Warren, founder of the Web site and Chief Executive Officer of TFCO, a non-profit organization that aims to help single mothers and new born infants all around the world.
“With the rising cost of medicines, there are many natural remedies which can easily be found in our natural environment. These have proven to be effective and they do not cost much,” declared Mr. Warren.
Mr. Warren recommends gargling using salt dissolved in warm water as one of the cheapest, safest and most effective ways of getting rid of a sore throat. He base’s his recommendations on personal studies and furthermore it is substantiated in an article in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine which discussed the results of a study conducted to test the effectiveness of gargling with salt dissolved in water in prevent upper respiratory tract infection (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16242593).
The study revealed that gargling with water can reduce incidence of URTI and when water is mixed with salt, the results showed lower incidence than when using water alone. “Simple water gargling was effective to prevent URTIs among healthy people. This virtually cost-free modality would appreciably benefit the general population,” the study concluded.
Another study tried to show the cost-effectiveness of gargling with water and salt (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19087312) not only from individual perspective but from society’s view point as well. Conducted in Japan, the researchers in Japan stated, “gargling is a generally accepted way of preventing upper respiratory tract infection (URTI).
The effectiveness of gargling for preventing URTI has been shown in a randomized controlled trial that compared incidences of URTI between gargling and control groups. From the perspective of the third-party payer, gargling is dominant due to the fact that the costs of gargling are borne by the participant. However, the cost-effectiveness of gargling from a societal perspective should be considered. In this study, economic evaluation alongside a randomized controlled trial was performed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of gargling for preventing URTI from a societal perspective.”
Based on the results, “the study suggests gargling as a cost-effective preventive strategy for URTI that is acceptable from perspectives of both the third-party payer and society.” This simply shows that using salt and water as natural remedies for sore throat could be economically helpful to individuals and to society.
“By using this remedy, people suffering from sore throat save themselves from the dangers of a serious infection and from expenses,” stated Mr. Warren.
