Research Warns About Link Between Flame Retardants and Infertility

(Newswire.net — August 18, 2022) Orlando, FL — Over the years, researchers have been looking into the factors influencing fertility. Various studies have linked infertility issues with pollutants and toxins.

Researchers at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health carried out a study and found a link between flame retardants and fertility issues.

More specifically, it has been found that women with increased urinary concentrations of a common type of flame retardant had a lessened likelihood of clinical pregnancy and live birth compared to those with lower concentrations.

This research, which was carried out in the Fertility Clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital, was published in Environmental Health Perspectives.

It was the first to examine links in between organophosphate flame retardants (PFRs) and reproductive health outcomes in women. It is worth noting that PFRs are used in polyurethane foam in many products, including upholstered furniture, baby products, and gym mats.

“These findings suggest that exposure to PFRs may be one of many risk factors for lower reproductive success,” said first author Courtney Carignan, a research fellow in the Department of Environmental Health at Harvard Chan School.

“They also add to the body of evidence indicating a need to reduce the use of these flame retardants and identify safer alternatives.”

It is important to note that one in six couples is found to struggle with infertility. Previous research studies have actually associated exposure to certain products with hormone-disrupting chemicals and poorer reproductive success.

Experts say these chemicals include phthalates and pesticides, which can be found pretty much everywhere today.

“Couples undergoing IVF and trying to improve their chances of success by reducing their exposure to environmental chemicals may want to opt for products that are flame-retardant free,” said senior author Russ Hauser.

Hauser is Frederick Lee Hisaw professor of reproductive physiology and acting chair, of the Department of Environmental Health.

Flame retardants and a wide range of toxins have long been known to trigger the onset of a wide range of diseases. This is why experts strongly recommend resorting to the measures helpful in lessening exposure to these toxins.

It may also be beneficial to have a body detox, which could help lessen the body’s toxic burden. Through cleansing, toxin accumulation that could otherwise increase the odds of certain diseases may be prevented.

All-natural remedies like Divine Bounty Activated Charcoal may be helpful for delivering body cleaning benefits. Activated charcoal has a highly porous surface that serves as a magnet to toxins, which are then flushed out of the body via stool. (https://amazon.com/Organic-Activated-Charcoal-Capsules-Whitening/dp/B071NZ5G56)
