Researchers Warn Local Vehicle Exhaust May Increase Stroke Risk

(Newswire.net — May 25, 2020) Orlando, FL — Scientists have been revealing various contributing factors to stroke. One study has shown that some environmental factors may increase its odds.

The findings of this study were published in the Environmental Health Perspectives.

In this research carried out in Sweden, the investigators found that long-term exposure to traffic exhaust near homes may increase the likelihood of stroke. Experts suggest that it could be due to black carbon, which is a fine particle air pollutant.

The results of this study have shown that exposure to exhaust fumes may increase stroke risk. Exposure to varying types of particulate matter is linked with the rates of stroke and heart disease.

Dr. Petter L. S. Ljungman is first author of the study paper and an associate professor at the Institute of Environmental Medicine at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden.

“This study identifies local traffic exhaust as a risk factor for stroke, a common disease with great human suffering, high mortality and significant costs to society,” he says.

It is worth realizing that black carbon pertains to a sooty material coming from burning fossil fuels.

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that it is a significant component of fine particle air pollution. In cities, it is worth realizing that road traffic is considered to be the primary source of black carbon emissions.

The analysis has shown that stroke risks increased by 4 percent for every additional 0.3 micrograms per cubic meter (μg/m3) of black carbon air pollutant from traffic exhaust.

The investigators of this study refer to a research linking long-term exposure to PM2.5  particles and atherosclerosis. The researchers suggest that black carbon coming from traffic exhaust may be a significant measure in evaluating air quality and health consequences.

Various measures can be taken to reduce the odds of stroke. According to researchers, some dietary techniques may be helpful, and these include intake of nutrients like B vitamins.

Experts recommend high doses of B vitamins to prevent stroke in high-risk individuals.

This is based on a study, which findings were based on the Heart Outcomes Prevention Evaluation 2 trial of more than 5,500 men and women with heart disease.

There are other studies demonstrating the stroke-fighting benefits of B vitamins. B vitamins are highly therapeutic and may be significantly helpful in warding off many diseases.

Formulas like Divine Bounty Vitamin B Complex may be an effective and safe source of these nutrients. This formula is known for its high potency and it is even gaining increasing popularity in the global market today.

It contains Choline, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamin, and vitamin B6 (amazon.com/dp/B07414752B).
