(Newswire.net — November 18, 2013) Huntington Beach , CA — SamsungGalaxyPhoneAccessories.com has been assisting fans with their mobile phone choices and at times while we support a company we expect more truth in advertising. Don’t get us wrong, we LOVE the Samsung Galaxy S4. It is just that if it is advertised as water resistant to one meter, then it should be warranted as such.

Unlike its successful predecessor, the Galaxy S4 Active is a more rugged phone that is both water and dust resistant. Paul Bryan of knowyourmobile.com writes, “A key component of the ‘Active’ label is the Galaxy S4 Active’s rugged properties – its IP67 certified, meaning it’s water and dust resistant and can be submerged in water up to a depth of one meter.” Because of this capability the phone can be used to capture video and images underwater.

However, you must read the fine print, as it states Samsung specifically calls this out in the manual: “This Limited Warranty does not cover: (a) defects or damage resulting from accident, misuse, abnormal use, abnormal conditions, improper storage, exposure to liquid, moisture, dampness, sand or dirt, neglect, or unusual physical, electrical or electromechanical stress […].

So why then is the Galaxy S4 Active marketed to sustain a life of adventure, especially since the phone has other noticeable water resistant differences and not warranted to cover water damages. Those differences included: Instead of having touch-sensitive buttons, the Galaxy S4 Active has physical buttons and a USB port that is protected by a rubber gasket cover. The phone is also a bit heavier and more durable.  Did Samsung just use the Galaxy S4’s old warranty and not upgrade it to reflect the new water resistance? Or is Samsung really not going to cover their customer’s phones when water damage occurs?

We have heard rumors that Samsung is looking at warranty issues on a case by case basis. So, since there are some ongoing disputes and if you are going to purchase it for underwater use, please heed our warning. Source That being said, if you are active and want added protection, we still highly recommend the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. Just stick with an underwater camera designed specifically for that purpose.
