(Newswire.net — June 7, 2013) New York, NY — The new Sarah James CD “Grafitti Kiss” is released on the Kilamanjaro Disques, independent jazz, meditation and healing recording label. Ms. James will be featuring new videos she has produced focusing on selected material from the CD in the near future. The newest video, also entitled “Grafitti Kiss” has just been released on You Tube under her name. To better find the material published by her, you can enter “sevenmoonsred” and go right to her channel.
“Graffit Kiss” is all poetry with Ms. James on voice, flute, alto saxophone and some percussion and guitar. It features 16 poems she has written and set to music. Broad in its scope of poetic topics; some political, some personal, the CD has many moods. James creates a whole environment for her words, by her compositional efforts. A skilled improviser on her instruments and voice, she creates a sonic world in words.
An eclectic artist by nature, James has released 15 CD’s on her label. Most of the CD’s are her own recordings, but there are also other people represented. The famous Pacific Northwest Diva, Nancy King’s CD “Perennial” with Steve Christofferson (piano and melodica) is one. Also featured on the CD are Leroy Vinegar (bass), Ralph Towner (guitar), Dave Frishberg (piano), Sergio Luca (Violin), Tom Wakeling (bass), Rudy Petschauer (drums) and Phil Baker (bass).
“Perennial” is likely Nancy Kings best recorded work, it features 14 songs masterfully sung. The title track is a stand out as well as Horace Silver’s “How Much Does Matter Really Matter.”
Also featured on the label is jazz pianist/composer/arranger, John diMartino. His first trio CD as a leader, Turnaround, featuring Boris Kozlov (bass) and Alvin Atkinson (drums) has received rave reviews. His second, “Impromptu” a duo CD with renowned cornet player Warren Vache, is stunning for it’s directly inspired musicality and inventiveness.
All other CD’s on the label are recorded by Ms. James. Ranging from the jazz blues realm, to the meditation and yoga zone, to the jazz poetry world, to the songwriter genre, Sarah James conveys a very personal message to her listeners.
