Scientists Warn Heavy Meals May Actually Trigger Heart Attacks

(Newswire.net — January 20, 2023) Orlando, FL — Experts have time and again revealed that certain dietary and lifestyle habits have a significant influence on heart health. The rates of heart disease continue to skyrocket, but it is also worth noting that such a condition may be preventable.

Scientists now warn unusually heavy meals may trigger heart attacks by around four times within two hours after eating.

The findings of this research were published in the American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions 2000.

The investigators suggest that the findings indicate eating a heavy meal may serve as a trigger for a heart attack in much the same way as extreme physical exertion and outbursts of anger might. This is particularly true to someone who has heart disease.

“To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that overeating by itself has been shown to increase the risk of heart attacks,” says lead author Francisco Lopez-Jimenez, M.D., M.Sc., a cardiology fellow at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

“We hope that the results of our study will help convince people to be more cautious about eating exceptionally heavy meals, especially for people who have coronary artery disease or have suffered a previous heart attack.”

In this study, the investigators questioned 1,986 male and female patients about the meals they had consumed just prior to their heart attacks. Of the subjects, it has been found that 158 had eaten a self-described heavy meal within 26 hours beforehand.

Further, 25 of them had eaten a big meal during a two-hour “hazard period” prior to the attacks. It is worth mentioning that the time of day when the meal was eaten had no apparent effect on the correlation.

Other researchers participating in the study include Murray A. Mittleman, M.D., D.P.H.; Malcolm Maclure, Ph.D.; Jane B. Sherwood, R.N.; James E. Muller, M.D., and Geoffrey H. Tofler, M.D.

More studies are still underway to look into the different aspects of cardiovascular health, including its potential treatments.

Some plant-based remedies like curcumin are increasingly being studied on by researchers today due to their protective heart health benefits.

In a number of research studies, it has been shown that curcumin intake led in heart health improvements. It works by reversing the many steps involved in the process of heart disease onset. It is further worth mentioning this remedy has strong anti-inflammatory benefits.

Today, formulas like VitaBreeze Curcumin are resorted to by individuals trying to benefit from its healing goodness. In addition to containing 750 mg of curcumin per capsule, it also offers 180 Vegetarian pills per bottle.
