(Newswire.net — October 4, 2016) Woodbridge, Virginia — Surviveware, a leading retailer of small first aid kits, is proud to announce another successful month in its partnership with Room to Read, a not-for-profit organization spreading literacy and gender equality through education in developing countries around the world. Surviveware donates $1 for every product sold to this great charity.

Room to Read programs have benefitted millions of children in 10 countries throughout Africa and Asia. Since its founding in 2000, Room to Read has distributed more than 18 million books and helped 10 million children in 18,000 communities . From their website:

“Being able to read and write is essential. Written words are gateways to knowledge and opportunity that are only accessible to those with the ability to decipher them. Despite the known benefits of literacy, 175 million young people in low- and lower middle-income countries are unable to read a single sentence. That’s one out of every four children. Without a strong foundation of literacy skills, children are more likely to struggle throughout their education, live in poverty and see their potential hampered. In the areas where we work, numerous barriers prevent students from developing the literacy skills they need to thrive.”

“The education of children, particularly girls, is one of the most powerful and effective ways to address global poverty,” added John Wood, founder of Room to Read.

A statement from Amanda Condry, owner of Surviveware: “It’s inspiring to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. Our dedication to give, to improve and to add value to people’s lives is one of the ways we hope to stand out amongst our competitors. Our goal is to donate a total of $100 000 to charity by the end of 2017. By supporting Room to Read, we are a part of a global movement to provide children with a better future through education and lifelong learning across Asia and Africa.”
