The instructors at School of Dance believe these trendy styles are not only fun to dance but also offer plenty of health and fitness benefits. Students looking to develop or shape targeted parts of their body are encouraged to choose the dance style that works best for their fitness objectives.

These latest dance styles were popularized by top pop artists, such as Rihanna, Beyonce, and Lady Gaga, but have their origins in popular cultures of different countries. This fits perfectly with School of Dance’s objective of fostering international understanding and cultural appreciation through dance.

The school’s twerk classes are open to all skill levels, from beginner to intermediate, and are offered for an hour once a week. Popularized by Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, and other American pop superstars, twerk was inspired by African dance styles where movements are primarily focused on the buttocks and lower body.

Female dancehall is a women’s only class and is available separately for beginners and intermediate dancers. Both classes are offered once a week.

Dancehall has its roots in reggae from Jamaica, and is a popular music genre as well as street dance style. While it is danced by both men and women, female dancehall emphasises feminine movements, particularly of the buttocks.

Just Dance is associated with the popular video game of the same name. School of Dance’s Just Dance lessons combine the different styles seen on the dance floors of nightclubs where style and attitude are paramount. It is offered for one hour weekly.

School of Dance’s directors for each dance style are dedicated dancers and instructors with extensive dance backgrounds. The school is open to adult students of all ages and skill levels, as well as to children age 7 and up.

The school has recently moved to a centrally located studio in Tammela, featuring a large mirror hall with state of the art sound technology and spacious changing rooms and showers.
