(Newswire.net — March 4, 2014) Lynden, WA — Knife design concepts come and go. A concept may go from the mind of a creator to the hands of cosumers and be discontinued not long after. The Griptilian has escaped this demise and remained a choice blade for these 7 years.

In a 2010 folding knife torture test conducted by a group of marines, the resilient Griptilian managed to overwrite a somewhat skeptical first impression and emerge as one of the top performers in their tests.

The Griptilian sliced through ropes, shredded cardboard and easily pierced a kevlar flak jacket. “Stabbing into the flak jacket was easy,” said Sgt Oneil Campbell. “The entire blade went in and through.”

The blade of the Griptilian 550HG is of 154CM. This is an American made premium grade stainless steel from Crucible Industries. It is commonly found in cutlery and machinery applications. It will hold its edge well and yet is easy to sharpen when necessary.

The modified sheepsfoot blade shape is not as conservative as the standard sheepsfoot. The sheepsfoot design has no point and is generally used on rescue knifes to avoid injuring an individual during a rescue. On the modified sheepsfoot the edge and spine gracefully taper to meet in the middle, producing more of an angled tip.

The ambidextrous design of the folder is sure to be appreciated by lefties. The thumb hole opener on the spine can swiftly swing the blade to readiness with either hand.

Benchmade Knives are made in the USA. You may find additional information on the Griptilian at Miles Tactical Inc.
