Things to Consider Before Renting a Business Car

(Newswire.net — August 26, 2015) — Renting a business car is extremely convenient for anyone who needs to get around on four wheels. However, although renting a car is routine for some business people, many aren’t sure of how to go about it or are unsure of the rental company’s policies. Although there are a number of things that you simply can’t change such as damage policies or the minimum driver age, you may be able to argue unnecessary charges, or simply look for another business car rental company to take your custom to. If you’re thinking of renting a business car for the first time, here are some things that you’ll need to consider.

Additional Drivers Cost More

For each additional driver added to the policy, most business car rental companies will charge an extra fee. For this reason it’s important to work out exactly who will be driving your business car during the rental period in order to avoid any unnecessary charges. If you are renting the car for a group, for example a travelling sales team, you will probably not need to register each member of the team as a driver. Whilst for long distance trips it’s not a bad idea to register two drivers in order to share the load, for smaller journeys it’s usually best to just keep to the one driver.

Inspect Beforehand

Before you take your business car on a journey it’s important to inspect it beforehand for any faults or signs of damage such as scratches and dents. You should also inspect the interior of the car for any stains, tears or marks. Although the rental company should have already noted these damages, it’s a good idea to double check and make sure that they are aware of them in order to avoid being billed for the damage yourself. It’s also recommended that you check all safety and emergency equipment is present, such as car battery chargers from autobodynow.com. Upon returning the rental you should ensure that an inspection is carried out and existing damage and issues are verified in order to avoid an accidental charge.

Be Aware of Airport Car Rental Fees

If you are renting a business car for the purpose of travelling abroad on a business trip, it’s important to note that most airport car rental counters are notorious for adding additional fees when you rent a business car from them. Unfortunately the car rental companies are often required by law to collect these surcharges from the airport, and there is not much that you can do to avoid being charged. If you are on a business trip abroad and would like to rent a business car, it may be a cheaper option to take a shuttle or taxi transfer from the airport to a separate business car rental company in order to avoid the airport surcharge.
