(Newswire.net — August 19, 2022) Las Vegas, NV — Doctors and health authorities have long been warning against high blood sugar, which can result in diabetes onset. Unfortunately, it appears to do more harm than trigger the condition.
According to a new U.S. study, uncontrolled high blood sugar among patients with stroke and heart attack hospitalized in the ICU could be life-threatening.
This study involved 216 ICU patients who were found to be at an increased death risk due to high blood sugar.
Study author Dr. Mercedes Falciglia, says that increased deaths associated with hyperglycemia in intensive care units were highest in those without diagnosed diabetes and in those admitted with cardiovascular disorders, such as heart attacks, unstable angina, and strokes.
Dr. Falciglia is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology in Ohio.
“These findings suggest that different disease states are variably affected by hyperglycemia, with the strongest association in individuals with cardiovascular disorders,” added Falciglia.
The investigators suggest that even a very slight increase in blood sugar causes mortality risk to skyrocket.
The findings of this research were presented at the American Diabetes Association’s annual Scientific Sessions, in Washington, D.C.
In the United States, more than 100 million people have diabetes or prediabetes. Experts have long been stressing the importance of taking some preventive measures against this condition.
In addition to practicing healthy dietary and lifestyle habits, scientists have also been stressing the importance of using some diabetes-fighting remedies like turmeric.
This therapeutic remedy has a long history of medicinal use, especially in Ayurveda. Today, many scientists carry out studies to look into its healing benefits deeper.
It is worth realizing that through its active component called curcumin, turmeric has been found to deliver wide-ranging health benefits.
Scientists say that it could be helpful in the management of high glucose levels in the blood. Studies even reveal it can increase insulin sensitivity and this results in a reduction in blood sugar levels.
In clinical trials involving animals, curcumin acted as an anti-hyperglycemic agent. It is important to be warned hyperglycemia pertains to high blood sugar levels, which produce symptoms like frequent urination, headaches, and nausea.
It may even aid in reversing diabetes, especially if combined with healthy dietary and lifestyle practices. While experts do not say curcumin is a cure for diabetes, it remains true that it exerts various mechanisms to reduce blood sugar and fight diabetes.
Today, there are formulas like Incredipure Curcumin found to work wonders in delivering its healing effects (http://amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Supplement-BioPerine-Capsule/dp/B0166KAW8M).
