Urban Fantasy Author Gretchen S. B. Publishes Her First Contemporary Romance

(Newswire.net — October 20, 2015) Portland, Oregon —  Seattle, WA – The Doll Making Delta, Gretchen’s first contemporary romance was released October 15th on Amazon.

Author Gretchen S. B. has four books under her writing belt: two are urban fantasy, the other two are a paranormal romance series. This week she released her first contemporary romance The Doll Making Delta. It is the first novel in the Delta House series.

“I love reading contemporary romance. I wanted to try my hand at writing one. I have to say it was hard. While romances tend to be shorter I found it quite the challenge to write a story without any urban fantasy elements. They are two very different genres. The challenge came from working in a whole new genre. I really enjoyed it.”

The concept for the Delta House Novels has been in the works for years and was inspired by real life. Gretchen started working on the idea for the series in college.

“I made a joke about writing a romance novel for a friend of mine, with her as the leading lady. Then some of my other friends wanted one. So the Delta House Novels where born. They were not originally a series. They started out as something fun. But the more I thought about it the more excited I was about telling these stories. I love happily ever after. As I wrapped up my latest paranormal romance I found I wanted to write a happily ever after for my characters. “

The premise of this contemporary romance series is a women only scholarship program. The scholarship is introduced before the story begins. It is a full ride offered to two Washington State girls a year. There are high standards these girls must achieve to maintain their statue each year. Since all the recipients live together the young women become close and remain friends the rest of their lives. That is when Reneé and Ruben’s story begins.

“This isn’t my first time writing romance. It is just the first time writing a clean romance. My paranormal series has more adult content. I am truly nervous and excited. I am entering the large pond of contemporary romance. There are some very talented women in this field. So there are a lot of books out there. My worry is people just won’t find it.”

Gretchen’s last paranormal romance, Viking Sensitivity, was released at the end of August with good reviews. She wrote The Doll Making Delta immediately after.

“I took almost a year off from writing. I released my first three books in less than a year. Then my, now, husband and I bought a house and got married. There was a lot going on and my writing was set aside. Now that life is more settled I am trying to get my name back out there as an author. I have been reengaging with my readers again. It was important that I start back up with a bang and release these books close together. I am making progress toward my goal to be a full time writer.”

“I am hoping to have another book out by the end of the year, the second book in my urban fantasy series, Berman’s Wolves. With the Doll Making Delta I will now be juggling four series. It is a big undertaking but I am looking forward to the challenge of bringing multiple genres to my readers.”

 Reneé Edward has a lot on her plate. She took over as President of the Reneé-Gal company from her father a few months ago. Just in time for a merger with a new parent company. As if that timing was not bad enough she finds out several Junior Executives have been ruining the merger from within.

Just as she is scrambling to pick up the pieces, Ruben Blackthorne strolls into her life. He is sexy, tall and clearly into her. Though she is excited about this new development in her love life Reneé finds it a little hard to juggle the new addition.

As everything in her life finally seems to fall into place for the first time in almost a year Reneé finds herself confused as Ruben begins to pull away. Had she imagined their connection? Were things moving too fast? Lost and confused, at least she has her family and her fellow Deltas to get her through. That is until everything takes another unexpected turn.

Gretchen S.B. is a Seattleite who loves her home. She has a day job as a Program Coordinator at a local university. She loves to read, write and create characters.
