(Newswire.net — June 27, 2014) St. Petersburg, FL. — The FDA makes strong claims about the health risks of e Cigarettes, however, the White House greatly weakens the language on health risks that were part of the regulations. Reuters reported, “White House changes to proposed rules for tobacco products significantly weakened language detailing health risks from cigars and deleted restrictions that might have prevented online sales of e-cigarettes, published documents show.”
The OMB (Office of Management and Budget for the White House) explained that this was routine for them to make re-writes to the draft of rules while it was in review. They are trying to maximize the benefits and effectiveness of the FDA rules.
It is customary for the FDA not to make any comments on changes that are made while the regulations are under review. The general public can make comments on the proposal while the review is still open, with the deadline for public comments being Aug. 8th. While the final ruling is under development, any comments made by the general public will be taken under consideration, stated Jennifer Haliski who is the official FDA spokeswoman.
Part of the FDA ruling that the OMB left in place, is the ban of e Cigarette sales in vending machines. This will stop under age people from being able to easily access e Cigarettes.
