(Newswire.net — June 30, 2014) Los Angeles, CA — Residents of Franklin Village in Hollywood, CA have discovered that it’s much more fun to watch the World Cup soccer games in the company of other fans – they’re gathering at La Poubelle Bistro on Franklin Avenue.

Owners Francoise and Jacquie Koster open the bistro at 9 am on days when World Cup games are being televised.  Francoise’s father was Dutch so she supports both France and the Netherlands and Sunday saw much celebration as the Netherlands beat Mexico 2 -1.

The diverse population of Franklin Village, Hollywood and Los Feliz has brought supporters of many countries to La Poubelle, including Italy, South Africa, Australia, Brazil and Mexico. Francoise bought beers for everyone watching the USA and Australian games.

La Poubelle has been in the same place on Franklin Avenue since the 1960s and the welcoming atmosphere has led to the bistro being known to locals as ‘a home away from home.’  Now it’s being discovered by soccer fans all over Los Angeles.

Monday morning will be another high-energy session at La Poubelle as France takes on Nigeria at 9 am. Join Francoise and support the French team. Germany plays Algeria at 1 pm. Tuesday at 9 am Argentina plays Switzerland and at 1 pm the USA takes on Belgium. A large crowd is expected for that game.

The quarter finals start on Friday July 4 with Brazil playing Colombia.  The Netherlands are through to this round and will play Costa Rica at noon on Saturday. Lunch at La Poubelle that day should be quite an experience!

The final will be played on Sunday July 13 at noon. Whoever makes it to the final it’s sure to be an exciting match.  La Poubelle will host an enthusiastic crowd that day. For reservations call (323) 465-0807

About La Poubelle Bistro

La Poubelle opened in 1969 based on a childhood dream of having a creperie in America. With humble beginnings, a small kitchen where the bar now resides, 35 crepes and 15 omelets were served to the music of Edith Piaf. Four decades later, La Poubelle has truly become a Hollywood landmark catering to loyal neighbors and friends.
