(Newswire.net — August 9, 2016) Jamaica, New York — Zara Realty has recently donated a state-of-the-art computer lab to Richmond Hill High School to help students acquire a more advanced education in computer programming. Around 60 faculty staff members, elected officials, business leaders, students and community members gathered on July 14th, 2016 to witness the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Richmond Hill High’s new computer lab.

A Jamaica, NY-based realty group, Zara Realty provides quality housing at affordable rates to tenants in Queens, NY. Their team of dedicated and professional staff is committed to provide the highest level of service and offers only clean, safe and comfortable homes. Located east of Manhattan, the company’s apartments are strategically located and are close to schools, shopping centers, the Long Island Expressway, the Grand Central Parkway, the Van Wyck Expressway, and public transportation. Due to their success in the real estate industry, Zara Realty is able to help the community by doing philanthropic acts, including their huge donation to Richmond Hill High.

Richmond Hill High is only one of the 12 schools to receive donations from the realty group—five of which are in NYC. The school’s 46 new computers were purchased through the realty’s $125,000 donation.

Naresh Singh, an information technology specialist from Zara Realty, applauded the school’s commitment to turning the project into reality. Both the school and the staff members of the realty group worked several nights and even weekends in the past year to finish building the computer room.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Naresh shared his conversation with an employee at the Apple Store who was about to start his junior year at Union College. When asked by Naresh what degree he was pursuing, the young employee said he was pursuing programming. This further piqued Naresh’s interest and prompted him to ask if he ever had a chance to learn about computer programming in high school. Unfortunately, the young man said there was no access to the technology that he needed.

“That young man was a 2014 graduate of Richmond Hill High School,” Naresh says to the crowd. The young employee, Richmond Hill graduate Muhammad Ahmed, recalls learning computer programming through an A+ Book. This book was issued to students so they could take the book home and learn the curriculum by themselves. “I was on YouTube all the time trying to learn,” Ahmed said.

During Ahmed’s sophomore year, a computer programming presentation took place in his class, causing him and other students to decide that Richmond Hill needed a computer lab. Working with the school’s staff and faculty, Ahmed started searching for a donor, and in 2015, Zara offered them help.

“I feel so proud. It’s not just me that’s going to get the benefits,” says Ahmed. “Students that come after me now have a chance to become smarter with technology.”

Now, Ahmed works with technology all the time and is currently working on an app that will help students solve math problems by providing them with step-by-step problem solving solutions.
