(Newswire.net — October 31, 2016) Jamaica, NY —The executives of Zara Realty—company President George Subraj, Executive Vice-President Ken Subraj and Senior Vice-President Jay Sobhraj—were all recently honored as Philanthropists of the Year at the prestigious ‘Kings of Queens’ gala by the Star Network, Inc. at the Terrace on the Park.

Over 500 enthusiastic attendees came to witness the awarding of 40 honorees, which came from a broad section of successful businesses, social, civic and non-profit organizations. Preceding the awarding ceremony was the VIP hour, where Victoria Schneps-Yunis, the host and owner of Star Network and Schneps Communications, described the awardees as a “most extraordinary group of wonderful leaders.”

“[It was] George who just told me that ‘we must work hard to make each day better.’ How true and important that is,” Victoria movingly said as the Zara Kings George, Ken and Jay were presented.

“This is a very special message for all of us, not only for today, but everyday,” stated the publisher of over 20 weekly newspapers, including the famed Queens Courier and Ridgewood Times.

“I have seen what they have done and how many they have assisted, not only locally but internationally too,” the publisher added, in reference to the Zara partners’ history of helping the ill and less unfortunate as well the incredible expansion of their businesses.

George has sponsored various causes, including Guyana’s first kidney transplant in 2008 with a team of surgeons from Walter Reed Army Medical Centre; the introduction of Pediatric Open Heart Surgery through the Caribbean Heart Institute that sought to provide life-saving surgery for children; and 25 more transplant related missions.

“Today, here, I am pleased to be a part of the American Dream. Working and earning is great but giving back must be viewed as a duty also,” said George.

Ken, on the other hand, has tangibly helped the Laxmi Mandir of Liberty Avenue, Queens and its branch of Florida by donating computers and building materials. Meanwhile, Jay, the youngest of the Zara kings, stands the tallest with his exceptional contribution to education development at multiple academic institutions as well as to the social service community.

All the awards were handed out to each awardee by special guest Katherine McQuade, the National American Miss New York.

“The Queens Courier and Star Network are pleased to acknowledge the many extraordinary achievements of the men we are honoring,” Victoria noted. “These fabulous men have been so successful because they have a passion for what they do. It is my privilege to recognize them.” For more information, visit http://www.yellowpages.com/jamaica-ny/mip/zara-realty-1537167
