Image therapy may sound strange, but it may be the only thing that can revitalize your personal image. Many people overlook the importance of their personal image. But first impressions can only be made once, and inappropriate clothing or bad personal style can send a very negative message. You may be dressing in a way that sends the message that you aren’t taking your business seriously, that you are immature, or that you simply don’t care about yourself.

By going through image therapy, you’ll learn to understand your personal image and what it tells others about you. You will also learn to take control of your image and make it fit your goals. Image Therapist Intl., the company that brings you image therapy, has developed a specific formula that helps each individual determine personal rules for dressing properly. It doesn’t involve forcing you to wear clothing you feel uncomfortable in, or the same advice everyone else gives. The essential formula for image therapy has six main components that an Image Therapist will help you understand.

The first component is your physical proportions. By understanding and accepting the size and shape of your body, you can find clothes that flatter and fit properly. Wearing fitting clothes instead of being bagging or attempting to hide the parts of yourself you don’t like displays confidence. Your hair, skin, and eye color are the next component. By using a color that either matches or contrasts your coloring, you can highlight and disguise what you choose. The third and fourth components may not be obvious, but they do play an important role in the formula.

These two are the intensity of your gaze and the sound of your voice. These communicate how outgoing, strong, and aggressive you are. Dressing demurely when you speak like the head of a company and make eye contact with everyone provides a confusing image. The fifth component is your gait. Whether you take large strides or tiny steps, you will need to wear clothing that fit your gait. The final component is your personality. Of all of the components, this could be considered the most important. If your clothing style doesn’t match your overall personality, your personal image is not what it should be.

No matter what your role in life is, you can learn to dress appropriately. By improving your personal image, you can take control of the impression you send to others. You will also raise your self confidence. Shopping for clothes will no longer be painful or take hours, as you will be able to quickly assess outfits and how they will look on you. Image therapy can create a long and lasting change in your life.
