Global Peace Train Teaching People How Microloans Help Uplift Communities

In Africa, including Kenya, there are many informal settlements where people do not have opportunities to earn more than a dollar a day and do not have electricity or running water. These slum settlements face a bleak future without the help of microloans.

There are many people like this around the world in different countries experiencing abject poverty, disease and thousands of children die of starvation every year. Non-profit organizations such as the Global Peace Train strive to create microloan awareness among corporate and individuals, generate funds and provide microloan to these families.

Microloan benefits the entire community. Usually a loan of $100 is sufficient for impoverished women to start their own small venture and earn enough income to sustain their family and feed them. By empowering women with microloans, non-profit organizations help develop the entire community and place them on the road to financial recovery and sustained advancement. They help the poor provide for themselves. They help them live with dignity rather than in dependence.

Microloan is definitely one of the best, sustainable solutions for the people of Africa. It is imperative for lending organizations to create microloan awareness among individuals and corporate through various methods including creating documentaries, generate funds through charitable events and help make communities self sufficient.

One such initiative is the upcoming event in Salt Lake City, the Midsummer’s Night. In line with Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, this event is conducted by Global Peace Train in association with NS Minerals, a corporate that strives to do its bit towards development of impoverished communities.

This La Caille event will be conducted by event organizers and will spread microloan awareness and generate funds towards assisting women in Kenya with capital for small business ventures. According to Global Peace Train’s Executive Director Aja Duniven, impoverished Kenyan women prefer support in finding capital they can use to establish their small business as a long term sustainable solution.

Rather than living in dependence, these women prefer using their entrepreneurial spirit to earn enough to feed their hungry family. This realization resulted in the creation of Global Peace Train’s “Making Miracles with Microloans”, an initiative that offers Kenyan women with small loans and helps them uplift their families from poverty.

At least 97% of the loans are repaid in full within the stipulated period by these women. This is a highly encouraging factor for the Microloan programs. The loans repaid are then used again to help others who suffer from poverty in that community.

The magical theme event at La Caille will feature a special musical appearance from Tamara Taylor, an auction of services and art from local talent and a French three course meal provided by venue chefs.

HBO Comedy Tour and Comedy Central’s Michael Ugo Birkland is interestingly the Master of Ceremonies at this event. Events such as this act as a great inspiration and motivation for those who are dying to do something to help but do not know how to go about it, to contribute either their talents or funds.

The event begins at 6pm and is open to the public. For Tickets or donations call 801.452.3101 or visit www.globalpeacetrain.com/donations. All tickets and donations are tax deductible.
