According to the website, the name comes from the trials and tribulations of our struggles as a society and has a self proclaimed message of hope. To quote the artist directly, “We have found ourselves crucified upon a white picket fence for the mere aspiration of acquiring more stuff. With an industry and everyday struggle driven in most part by excess, I am hoping to bring a refreshing new message and sound for my audience.”
Danny Dichotomy has a voice shaded with the sound of the good ol’ American Big Band. But, his style of music does not fail to incorporate modern elements of Pop, R&B, Rock and the acoustic singer songwriters of the early 2000’s. Influences like the Beatles, Elvis, Dave Matthews, Jason Mraz, and Billie Holiday begin to form while listening to his music. Though the influences of the above artists are clear, Danny Dichotomy has carved his own and unique sound.
Though Danny sings about human struggle, he has an optimistic and uplifting way of conveying it. The title track, with the same name as the EP, “A New Beginning Love,” talks about accepting oneself and pushing forward towards the future, one day at a time. Through poetic lines like, “You’re building our house brick by brick. What peculiar fragrant smells come from virtue?”, the artist describes the knowledge of having an unfaithful lover. Danny Dichotomy says, “Although one might find this topic to be about pain or sadness, the protagonist in our song finds comfort knowing that her lover will never leave her side. In the context of the EP it shows the diminishing self-worth and humanistic struggle of a person living a shallow existence.”
