(Newswire.net — June 24, 2013) Fort Lauderdale, FL — Most recently, we were invited into the kitchen early in the morning to speak with Yvonne Liebe, of Old Heidelberg, Fort Lauderdale’s leading and premier German restaurant.  In speaking with Yvonne, we uncovered the family’s hidden gems in their approach to running a happy and successful restaurant.  Perhaps, “happiness” can never be underscored enough as she discusses with us the importance of keeping a family style restaurant to be one big family.  From customers to employees, the atmosphere is always maintained as a family where people are as happy to eat there as they are to work there.

We were also fortunate enough to see the preparation taking place inside the kitchen before 8:00am when their doors for patrons do not open until 11:45am for lunch.  To compare it to a factory is to minimize the hustle and bustle that goes into each and every sauce, dish, and pot, pan, and vat that is used in such preparation.

Freshness and authentic style is at the core of Old Heidelberg’s secret as one of the first sights is watching their sauerkraut and red cabbage being prepared in a large metal vat that is interspersed with onions and cooked long enough to be soft et while still maintaining its unique characteristic of crunch.

The upbeat tempo of their German restaurant located off the interstate of 95 in South Florida, makes it a destination patrons that crave authentic German food from Miami up through Boca Raton.  As Yvonne shared with us, the atmosphere is always festive as people return over and over again feeling a part of everything that Old Heidelberg has to offer.

Restaurants all know that there is the fine balance between food costs and volume whereby the thin margins of profit can erode quickly if this balance is not met properly and consistently.  Old Heidelberg seems to know what this balance is as they analyze their volume and maintain their freshness regardless of the ability to squeeze a higher profit from skimping on fresh.  That by itself, tells much of their dedicated story and commitment to their “family” of friends, patrons, and employees alike.

Their recipe for success sounds easy however as most restaurateurs know, is very difficult to execute.   Many can emulate this process but few can consistently stand up to the dedication of the minute details that go into making excellent German food.  Old Heidelberg in Fort Lauderdale can be contacted at:  900 SW State Road 84, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315
