(Newswire.net – June 27,2013) Concord, VA — Students from all over the world sponsored by International Cultural Exchange Services (ICES) are about to enroll in high schools throughout the United States for the coming academic semester or year courtesy of the ICES Host Exchange Student Programs.

For more than two decades, International Cultural Exchange Services has played an exemplary role in promoting a more peaceful world by advancing international awareness and cultural understanding to thousands of exchange students from all corners of the globe.

ICES is a nonprofit organization founded in 1991 and is a full member of CSIET (Council on Standards for International Education Travel) and is designated as an official exchange visitor program by the U.S. Department of State. ICES is also a full member of the Alliance for International Educational & Cultural Exchange in Washington, D.C.

The concept of international high school student exchange enhanced by the services of ICES provides an unforgettable experience for students with new discoveries about themselves and others while living in another country.

The age of ICES students is between 15 and 18, and they have the same responsibilities as the American teens while living in the country. ICES host families play a pivotal role in their Host Exchange Student Programs.

These host families provide the student with meals, room and board during their stay in America. ICES Area Representatives help families choose a prospective new son or daughter based on student profiles, host preferences, and criteria of the local high school.

In addition to giving these students a memorable and positive experience that lasts a lifetime, these families find it an exciting and rewarding experience to host an exchange  student. All exchange students have full health insurance coverage and their own spending money. All host exchange student families are entitled to claim an itemized tax deduction of $50 per month.

The Stokes family in Midland, Texas has recently hosted several students through ICES. Sharing their experience, a member of the family said: “One phone call on a Wednesday evening opened our lives and our family to a wonderful experience of hosting exchange students.  We will never be the same as our lives have become fuller and richer.

I think our ‘foreign kids’ would say the same!” Many American families like the Stokes family now love to host an exchange student and be a part of this process of bringing the world closer through cross-cultural sharing and friendship.
