“I honestly forgot about it” quipped King. “I thought that if maybe a hundred or so people found it useful then it was worth uploading to youtube. The fact that so many people have checked it out blows me away.”
The video, which is an eight minute lesson on how to influence people using embedded commands, was something that King thought other people might find useful.
“As a former child and family therapist, I wanted every tool that I could get my hands on to help people change. I stumbled into conversational hypnosis and was fascinated by the idea that you could influence people without them necessarily being aware of it.”
“I’ve come to learn that using embedded commands is just one way to sort of ‘secretly’ hypnotize or influence people, and that it’s good to have a variety of tools in your toolbox for different circumstances.”
Arthur King, who uploaded his first video in 2008, has recently begun to add more videos as a follow up to the first hypnotize anyone video. “I think what surprises a lot of people is the fact that the words that you’re using are just ordinary words”, says King.
“There aren’t any ‘hypnotic words’ – it really just depends on how you structure the ideas that you want to get across.”
When you hear someone talking about hypnosis, you typically think of a stage hypnotist making someone imitate a chicken, or someone staring at a pocket watch as it swings back and forth.
“Nothing could be further from the truth,” says King. “Many of the techniques used in conversational hypnosis are just that – conversational. So you don’t need a pocket watch for anyone to stare at in order to hypnotize or influence them- you just talk to people like you normally would using the same language that you typically use.”
